Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Officially Announced

Naughty Dog Gives a Teaser of What to Expect at the VGAs

December 9, 2010 by

Despite being one of the greatest gaming series of all time, and beating the sales juggernaut Modern Warfare 2 for just about every 2009 Game of the Year award, most people still haven’t heard of the Uncharted series. It’s sad that such a masterpiece is still hovering under the radar for most casual and hardcore gamers. But with a potential movie in the works and all the momentum from 2009, Naughty Dog have officially announced the third installment in their epic action & adventure series, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and their plans to make the series a household name by stepping their game up and outdoing themselves.

Although details are still slim, Naughty Dog told Entertainment Weekly that they’re going all out for the third game and looking to improve everything from the singleplayer to multiplayer experience, and even designing the game in 3D. Yep, that’s right, 3D. Watch out Hollywood, the Uncharted series is already outdoing your movies, now it’s coming for your 3D. And staying true to its name, the latest game will be set in the Arabian Peninsula and the vast wasteland of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter or the Atlantis of the Sands.

The teaser trailer released today is very short and doesn’t show much, but there were also some amazing new screenshots released, along with a release date tease of late next year. Expect more news this Saturday when it is believed that an official trailer will be shown on Spike’s 2010 Video Game Awards, the same show where Uncharted 2 won Game of the Year last year.
