If you were to have taken a poll of people predicting how Sony would open their E3 2015 media briefing on Monday night, 99% would have probably not said with The Last Guardian. Yet, that’s exactly how Sony kicked off their event by shocking the world with a second look at The Last Guardian after keeping it under wraps for the past six years.
Over the years, PlayStation fans have been demanding to see or hear more about the now infamous game from the legendary developers of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and Sony’s press conference delivered by making all of their fans’ dreams come true. Although the game looks about the same as it did six years ago when teased for PlayStation 4, just seeing the little boy with his giant bird dog again and getting a confirmation that development had not ceased was enough to get those in attendance to jump out of their seats and cheer in excitement.
Sony also confirmed that original developer Fumito Ueda is still remaining as one of the main developers of the game despite his departure. The Last Guardian is set for release in 2016 on PlayStation 4.
