During the Credits
Towards the end of the credits of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, there is one last animated entry to the Guide shown alongside the credits.
The animation shows Arthur Dent saying, “I wouldn’t want to go anywhere without my wonderful towel.” and at that very moment a freak wormhole carrying his words back in time to a distant galaxy where aliens were on the brink of battle. The two opposing leaders are shown meeting for the last time when the words drift across their conference table; however, the aliens interpret the words as an insult and decide to team up to get revenge on Earth. It is then explained that “due to a terrible miscalculation of scale the entire battle fleet was accidentally swallowed by a small dog.” The animation ends with the narrator explaining that “this sort of thing is going on all the time.”
