It’s rare that a game close to five years old gets updated with a brand new game-changing mode, especially when said game is free-to-play, but Valve loves their fanbase and especially loves selling goofy hats and other in-game items to them. To keep the game fresh after so many years and make sure the fans stick around even longer to buy even more hats, Valve is introducing the “Mann vs. Machine” update to their free-to-play microtransaction behemoth, Team Fortress 2.
In the Mann vs. Machine update, players for the first time will be able to team up in a co-operative mode that will allow up to six mercenaries defend their structure against increasingly-difficult waves of robots who have been modeled after the current classes in the game. Like other popular Horde modes in games such as Gears of War and Call of Duty‘s Zombies: players earn cash by killing enemies and completing rounds which can then go towards upgrades and other unlockables.
