Over the past week, one of the biggest stories in the movie industry has been regarding J.J. Abrams’ upcoming movie entitled “Super 8”. Up until yesterday, nothing was known about the film besides that it was going to be directed by J.J. Abrams, produced by Steven Spielberg and teased in a similar fashion to Abram’s last Sci-Fi thriller Cloverfield.
The reason the news is relevant now is because just like Abrams’ Cloverfield had its debut teaser trailer before Transformers, Super 8 is supposed to debut its teaser during the trailers before Iron Man 2. Although the trailer leaked onto the internet yesterday, I was advised to just wait until 12:01am to see the trailer in theaters before I saw Iron Man 2.
I took said advice and refused to watch the super secret Super 8 teaser trailer all day. I even got to Iron Man 2 early and was able to catch all the trailers before the movie. There’s just one problem… THERE WAS NO SUPER 8 TRAILER DURING THE COMING ATTRACTIONS BEFORE IRON MAN 2! I guess the Regal Cinemas that I went to was not one of the “select” theaters that Amblin Entertainment chose to show their super secret trailer to.
Obviously, I’m a little upset because I love me some Cloverfield and wanted to watch the trailer for Super 8 all day; yet, refrained from doing so in order to make the experience better. As I realized the actual Iron Man 2 movie was starting I couldn’t stop thinking, “Wait? Where the hell was the Super 8 trailer? The movie can’t start yet!” which did not put me in a good mood from the start of the film. Anyways, enough of my ranting, here’s the Super 8 trailer for everyone else out there whose theaters weren’t selected to debut it.
Update: YouTube is taking down all Super 8 leaked videos, check out the 1080p HD version of the trailer posted by Apple here.
