After weeks of rumors, Warner Bros. has just officially revealed the cast of David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad — and it’s one worthy of taking on Marvel’s all-star cast in a head-to-head summer blockbuster battle.
The biggest announcement is that the Joker will be returning after Heath Ledger’s iconic performance and Jared Leto hot off his Oscar winning performance is set to play him. Other huge news includes Will Smith confirmed as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevinge as Enchantress.
Jesse Eisenberg is expected to return as Lex Luthor after Batman vs. Superman and WB is still in the process of casting Amanda Waller, the leader of the Squad similar to the Avenger’s Nick Fury. As crazy as it sounds, Oprah Winfrey is reportedly at the top of WB’s list right now for who they want to play Waller, and considering how strong the cast already is, it wouldn’t be that surprising if they find a way to pull it off.
The antihero team of incarcerated supervillains known as the Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters Summer 2016.
