Sony Ends Their E3 2014 Media Briefing with Uncharted 4

Drake is back and looking better than ever... maybe for the last time.

With Sony announcing a new Uncharted game on PlayStation 4 and not showing any footage back in November during the launch of the PS4, we knew that they’d finally be giving us a good look at this year’s E3… but even knowing what to expect based on rumors from inside sources, it was still a huge shock to see just how good Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End really does look on PlayStation 4.

Not giving too much away in the first look, Uncharted 4‘s new character model of Nathan Drake is so realistic that it’s starting to get scary. Naughty Dog raised the bar with The Last of Us by making Uncharted 3‘s character models look like cartoons. Now, they’ve raised the bar once again by taking full advantage of the new generation’s hardware and have managed to even make The Last of Us start to look dated after only a year passing since its release on PlayStation 3. The realistic movements in Drake’s face are jaw-dropping and what you would expect to see in CGI teasers… not actual footage captured directly from a PS4.

Uncharted 4‘s subtitle, “A Thief’s End”, and the conversation that plays over the trailer between Drake and Sully hint that this will be a much darker game and could even be the last Uncharted for awhile as Naughty Dog continues work on a brand new unannounced IP.

Considering how good Uncharted 4 looks, hopefully 2015 won’t be the last time we see the new and improved Drake because just the thought of what Naughty Dog is going to be capable of doing in a few more years on the PS4 is even crazier to think about than what lies within the jungle that Drake walks into at the end of the trailer.
