With Overwatch a little over a month away from launch, Blizzard has just released another superb animated short that focuses on the background stories of main characters (classes), Tracer and Widowmaker, who are fighting on opposite sides of the front line.
Just like the original reveal and last month’s “Recall” trailer, “Alive” is yet another fantastic trailer that does a better job introducing new playable characters in Blizzard’s multiplayer-only game than most story-driven singleplayer games ever manage to do over the course of hours of cutscenes.
Blizzard has always been a master of the CGI hype trailer, and now their venture into Pixar-esque short stories is likely to make just as many viewers into fans who want to watch a full-length film as fans who just want to play the game. And with 21 heroes at launch and surely more to come soon, Blizzard will likely have no problem creating even more short stories to expand the game’s growing universe and keep fans entertained.
Overwatch is set for release on May 15, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
