Michael Bay’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has not been going as well as Paramount Pictures had hoped. Fans were outraged to learn that the title would be switched to just Ninja Turtles in order to reflect a huge change in the plot where the Turtles were in fact aliens, rather than mutants. The Michael Bay Platinum Dunes’ production, which is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans), was in pre-production in Vancouver and set for release in December 2013 before coming to a screeching halt.
According to THR, that December 2013 release date has been pushed back to May 2014 due to issues with the script. There’s still no official word from Paramount as to why exactly the film was pushed back, but this marks the second big budget film the studio has delayed in recent months, the other being G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which they shockingly delayed almost a full year into 2013 just a month before its big Summer 2012 release.
