Following in today’s theme of Games You’ve Probably Never Heard Of, we bring you another sci-fi shooter that’s flying very low under the radar. Nexuiz, which will be available on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and Steam in two weeks on February 29 for $10 — only $10! — looks and plays just like the popular Unreal Tournament and Quake series but on the stunning CryEngine 3 that has powered visual spectacles like Crysis 2.
I wasn’t even aware of the previous Nexuiz game built on the old Quake engine and have been dying for a new fast-paced twitch shooter ever since 2007’s Unreal Tournament III, so I can honestly say that I’m getting hyped for Nexuiz in the midst of this jam-packed triple-A season of games. Nexuiz might not feature any vehicular combat modes but its 8-on-8 (edit: 4-on-4) arena combat with over 100 Mutators is surely enough to keep you busy while you wait in between the releases of other shooters like Mass Effect 3 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Check out Nexuiz‘s latest trailer showcasing a few of its hundred dynamic Mutators below.
