Netflix really just can’t catch a break these past few months. First they increased their prices, then Starz didn’t renew its deal with them, and to try and fix things more recently, Netflix decided to announce the creation of Qwikster, a division of Netflix that would take over their DVD-by-mail services as Netflix moved on to streaming movies online… a move that confused and upset many Netflix subscribers. To try and fix things again, Netflix’s co-founder and CEO, Reed Hastings, has taken to the official Netflix blog to explain their decisions again, admit he was wrong again, and to announce that Qwikster will no longer be happening:
It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.
This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster.
Hastings’ full blog post can be viewed here, but there’s still no word on Netflix’s plan for video game rentals now that Qwikster isn’t happening.
