Like many predicted it would, the latest installment in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 3, has gone on to break all sorts of sales records on its launch. Modern Warfare 3 easily beat its biggest competitor Battlefield 3‘s impressive 5 million copies in one week by selling 6.5 million copies in its first 24 hours.
Those 6.5 million copies equal $400 million in sales for Activision’s gaming juggernaut and has set a first-day entertainment sales record, beating any other game or movie and was almost enough to beat what its predecessor Modern Warfare 2 did in its first seven days. It’ll still be a couple days until we find out how many copies of MW3 were sold in its first week, but expect big numbers with how well it did just in its first 24 hours.
