We haven’t heard or seen anything regarding Konami’s new Fox Engine since they revealed over a year ago that it has been in the works since the completion of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with their goal being to make it the “best engine in the world.” Now, with the Metal Gear series celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary, Konami has officially announced another new Metal Gear game that is sure to please fans.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is the ninth entry in the Metal Gear series, and will be the first to have an open world gameplay structure. The first look at gameplay which was also just revealed at the 2012 Penny Arcade Expo shows eleven minutes of jaw-dropping real-time footage on the Fox Engine that is shockingly said to look the same on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, although also said that it can scalable to next-gen systems.
Still no word on when the prologue is set for release and exactly what systems it will be on, but it’s safe to say that with visuals like these, most people won’t mind watching the notoriously long Metal Gear cutscenes mashed up with seamless transitions into gameplay. Check out the full eleven minute trailer below that reveals which Snake will be the star of the next Metal Gear Solid.
