When we gave Mario Kart 8 on Wii U our Game of the Year award in 2014, it wasn’t just because it was the best game of the year… rather, it was because the last installment in the serious was without question the best Mario Kart ever made.
Now, Nintendo is re-releasing Mario Kart 8 on the Switch this April 28, 2017… and the best is about to get even better with players being able to take the kart racer on the go and play with up to 8 friends locally.
The Wii U version wasn’t without a few flaws, the biggest of course being the exclusion of the beloved Battle Mode. In addition to adding Balloon Battle back to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, there will be a roster of 40 characters, 48 tracks, new modes, and the game will be run at 1080p and 60fps for 1-2 players.
