There are photos and video clips of many of the actual people portrayed in the movie during the first four minutes of the credits of Machine Gun Preacher.

These include Sam Childers, Joseph Kony, Deng, Marco, Paige, Lynn, and many of the children he helped. Scenes demonstrate Sam’s humanitarian work in Africa, his and Lynn’s wedding, his sermons in Pennsylvania, and his familiarity with a shotgun. The final extra scene is a talking head interview clip in which Sam states, “For me to sit here and give all kinds of excuses to make it right, I can’t do. But what I want to ask everyone out there, everyone that has a child, everyone that has a brother or a sister, if your child or your family member was abducted today, if a madman came in, a terrorist came in, abducted your family member of your child, and if I said to you, I can bring your child home… does it matter how I bring ’em home?” Everything is in black and white or sepia.
