During the Credits
The first minute of the credits of Kong: Skull Island contains extra scenes.
Spoiler
The extra scenes show Hank Marlow (John C. Reily) reuniting with his wife and meeting his grown-up son for the first time in his life. Marlow then enjoys a Cubs game with a hot dog and a beer, just as he had hoped for earlier in the film.
The remaining credits are presented over a background of stone art from the Iwi tribe.
After the Credits
There is a stinger after the credits of Kong: Skull Island that sets up the already-announced 2020 sequel.
Spoiler
The extra scene starts with Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) seemingly breaking the fourth wall in a short monologue about “you like sitting there in the dark?” It is then revealed that he and Weaver (Brie Larson) are being detained in an interrogation room with a one-way mirror and are frustrated and confused that nobody is responding to their offers to keep the island a secret. Brooks (Corey Hawkins) and Lin (Jin Tian) open the door and welcome Conrad and Weaver to Monarch. Brooks repeats some of the words of Bill (John Goodman) from earlier in the film and explains that “this world is not ours”, that there are more monsters, and that Kong is not the only king. They watch a video titled “Section 8 Additional Threats”, which contain cave paintings depicting Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. As the final scene fades to black, the roaring sound of Godzilla can be heard.
