Mark your calendars, fanboys. Nearly a year after Microsoft revealed that an entire trilogy is planned to extend Master Chief’s intergalactic campaign, perhaps picking up where Halo 3‘s post-credits scene left off, today the publisher officially announced the release date to be November 6, 2012.
The flagship Xbox 360 exclusive, which will continue one of Microsoft’s most popular and acclaimed franchises, is one of our Most Anticipated Video Games of 2012. But with original trilogy developer Bungie moving on to other projects and developer 343 Industries inheriting the series, all eyes will be on the subsidiary of Microsoft Studios to scrutinize whether Halo 4 will be the beginning of something like Star Wars: Episodes I-III.
Hopefully we’ll all find out more at E3 in a couple of months, but until then, you can check out the only in-game footage of Halo 4 below.
