‘Gravity’ Spin-Off

Short Film Reveals Other Side of Key Moment

November 26, 2013 by

By now, you’ve probably experienced Alfonso Cuarón’s 3D sci-fi spectacle Gravity. If you haven’t yet, what planet have you been on for the past couple of months?!?

The movie, a frontrunner for one of the best of the year, now has a neat little companion piece in the form of a short film entitled Aningaaq. It was recently submitted for Oscar consideration as Best Live Action Short Film, and if it does get nominated in the category, Aningaaq and Gravity could make history as the first spin-off and feature pair from the same material to be nominated the same year (assuming Gravity gets a Best Picture nod, too, of course).

Co-written, edited, and directed by Alfonso Cuarón’s son Jonás, Aningaaq was screened at some film festivals with Gravity and will be included in the bonus features when the movie’s released on video. However, you can check it out here now below, so let us know what you think in the comments.
