One of the games that we unfortunately didn’t have time to check out at E3 back in June was Gotham City Impostors. With the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, currently in production and the next Batman game, Arkham City, set for release in October, it’s easy for anything else dealing with the caped crusader to get lost in pack. But Gotham City Impostors is a unique take on the Batman universe that doesn’t involve the real Batman and takes the idea seen in the beginning of The Dark Knight film where ordinary (crazy) people dress up as Batman lookalikes to fight crime on their own.
Besides not including the real heroes and villains, Impostors is also taking the risk of making a Batman game that plays as a multiplayer first-person shooter. The game doesn’t look as good as the bigger-budgeted Arkham City, but will be released in 2012 as a downloadable game on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. So even if Impostors does turn out to be a cheap knock-off, it’ll probably only set you back $10-$15 dollars.
