Dota 2 is set to premiere in just two days at Valve’s $1 million “International” tournament at Gamecom 2011, but a trailer from Valve and leaked screenshots from beta players have already started to hit the internet. The pre-rendered cinematic trailer from Valve looks absolutely amazing, unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the screenshots from the actual game.
Although the leaked screenshots don’t make the game look bad, I was hoping that Valve was going to take Dota to the next level with their resources, not just make another Dota clone with better graphics. The screenshots make the game look like a mash-up of League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth with a Team Fortress 2 cartoony art direction. The screenshots are said to possibly be four months old with many changes being made since then, so I guess we’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see the new and improved version of the game and some actual gameplay.
