Dead Rising 3 Revealed

Microsoft Shows Off Gameplay at E3 2013

June 10, 2013 by

Just like the original that was released at the start of the Xbox 360’s life cycle, Microsoft has yet again been able to secure Dead Rising as an exclusive launch title for their next-gen system, the Xbox One. With the first game being one of the best reasons to get a 360, it looks like Microsoft is trying to once again use Capcom’s crazy zombie-killing adventure, which continues in Dead Rising 3, to help push their boxes.

Whether you’re excited or upset about the news that Dead Rising is going back to being an Xbox exclusive really depends on which side of the fence you stand on in the console war and whether you’re a fan of the new duller color palette being used by Capcom. Dead Rising 3 is clearly an improvement from the last in the graphics department, but based on the new look that’s far less colorful than the previous two games, it seems like the series is moving towards a more serious tone.

So does less color necessarily mean less fun? With Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us now owning the more serious zombie-slaying genre and other cheaper current-gen Xbox Live titles like State of Decay seeming to offer a very similar look and feel, it’ll be interesting to see how the desaturated Dead Rising 3 turns out with the market now being so oversaturated with zombie games and modes.

Watch the walkthrough demo of Dead Rising 3 from Microsoft’s E3 2013 media briefing and you be the judge.
