IGN has recently released some key notes from the making of Dead Rising 2 panel at GDC 2009. Here’s all you need to know:
Laura Scholl, the Product Manager of mental mill confirmed that Dead Rising 2 will frequently track at soleast 800 separate clothing textures to provide the sense of unique zombies onscreen. What’s more, thanks to the elements that Blue Castle are using from mental mill to quickly mass produce characters for the game engine, players could experience as many as 6000 characters onscreen during multiplayer sessions.
Update 3/31: So now it looks like there might not be multiplayer… Laura Scholl has issued a response to the news:
During the Dead Rising 2 presentation at GDC this past Friday, while I was describing how Blue Castle is using mental mill technology in character development, I mistakenly referred to the game as multiplayer instead of multiplatform. I apologize for the confusion.
