Crytek Dropping the Ban Hammer

Sternly Worded Message to 'Crysis 2' Cheaters

April 1, 2011 by

After enjoying its most successful gaming launch of the year with last week’s Crysis 2, Electronic Arts has posted a foreboding warning message from developer Crytek:

“We do take cheating very seriously here at Crytek. We are currently taking steps to permanently remove exploits from Crysis 2 and to penalize those individuals that choose to utilize them. We thank you for your patience and want to ensure you that we will continue to work hard to keep the integrity of Crysis 2 intact and cheat-free.”

As a former tester at EA, I can’t say I’m too surprised that Crysis 2 was shipped with exploits that gamers quickly discovered. However, I am surprised that EA is dealing with this swiftly, having already patched the game last weekend and promising another one on the way soon.
