Not to be outdone by Ubisoft’s similar sounding and looking Far Cry 3 that has looked amazing the past two years at E3, CryTek is back with the next installment in their Crysis series. After the second game was rather disappointing graphics-wise when compared to the original, CryTek have said that their goal is again to make Crysis 3 the superior graphics card-melting visual experience on PCs that originally put the series on the map.
Although no characters without full armor suits were shown, from what gameplay the latest trailer does show, CryTek wasn’t kidding, and Crysis 3 looks to easily retake the crown as this year’s best looking game at E3 (despite being on current-gen systems), beating out Far Cry 3 and even Medal of Honor: Warfighter on the amazing Frostbite 2 engine. Hopefully, instead of just focusing on visuals for pixel counters, the team at CryTek will also spend some time on character development, because while Crysis 3 looks very pretty the story throughout the series has never been that memorable, and Far Cry 3‘s story still looks far more compelling and exciting.
Crysis 3 is set for release on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 sometime in February 2013.
