During the Credits

Old school images of WWII propaganda to support the U.S. (including posters like James Montogomery Flagg’s Uncle Sam “I want you!” and “We can do it!” by J. Howard Miller) are shown during the first two and a half minutes of the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger. At the very end of the credits, in the fashion of the James Bond movies, there is a line stating that “Captain America will return in The Avengers.”

After the Credits

There is an extra scene (directed by Joss Whedon, who will direct The Avengers) and trailer for The Avengers after the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger; check out more details and spoilers below.

Spoiler
Just like in Iron Man and Thor, which featured extra scenes after the credits with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson),there is an extra scene after the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger that shows Captain America boxing a heavy bag at a gym. He knocks the bag off its hanging mount just as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) walks in. Fury asks, “Trouble sleeping?” Captain America says, “You’re here with a mission, sir?” Fury: “I am.” Captain America: “Trying to get me back in the world?” Fury: “Trying to save it.” After the extra scene there is a teaser trailer for The Avengers in 2012 with the other heroes. The Hulk is only shown in his Bruce Banner form, played by Mark Ruffalo.
