Capcom has announced that two new multiplayer modes for Resident Evil 5 will be released as DLC through the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network.
The new Versus modes will allow up to four players to play against against each other online:
- Slayer: A point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis.
- Survivor: Players hunt the most dangerous game, each other!
The Versus mode DLC will be released in a few weeks on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 400 MS Points or $4.99 on the PlayStation Network.
I’m not sure how I feel about the idea of having multiplayer in Resident Evil 5. While multiplayer makes a game worth buying and playing for a long time, I just can’t see this multiplayer being exciting with the stop and shoot dated controls of Resident Evil 5. I also don’t like the idea of having to pay extra to get a feature that should already be included with a game on release. I guess we’ll have to wait until more information is released to see if this is worth buying.
