Sad news for anybody hoping to get their hands on BioShock Infinite towards the end of this year. After announcing that the release date would be October 16, 2012, back in March, Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine confirmed today via blog post that the latest BioShock‘s release will be pushed back to February 13, 2013.
Although the news is saddening, I think most trust Levine and with him making statements like “BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter. We had a similar experience with the original BioShock …”, it’s easy to accept that 2012’s potential Game of the Year will have to wait until 2013. Let’s just hope there are no more delays and the name doesn’t start becoming a joke like Duke Nukem Forever, which took forever to come out.
To add to the bad news, Levine has said that they’ll be holding off on showing BioShock Infinite at the big events of the summer, like E3 and Gamescom. We were looking forward to seeing how the game has come along after stealing the show last year at E3. With BioShock bowing out of E3, who knows which game will surprise us and win this year’s Game of the Show at E3 next month.
