So that’s where the old Ellie from the debut trailer of The Last of Us went. Naughty Dog’s curious recent change of character Ellie’s face to what you see now in their newly unveiled The Last of Us gameplay all makes sense now. To minimize confusion between different PlayStation 3 exclusives, or maybe to stop any more cross-over rumors with Joel from TLoU also looking very similar to Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series.
After Ubisoft blew our minds with Watch Dogs at its E3 Media Briefing event, Sony quickly followed the under-the-radar project with another jaw-dropper that had us staring in amazement and also scratching our heads in wonder. Ultimately setting us up for a knockout blow with The Last of Us as its finale, Sony warmed us up with the announcement of Quantic Dream’s upcoming game, Beyond: Two Souls.
Like their previous popular PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain and Kara tech demo, Quantic Dream’s latest work will be another character- and plot-driven psychological drama that employs a dark graphical style all while guiding the player through a supernatural story that explores what happens after death, hence the title. The main character, Jodi Holmes, was revealed today to be none other than Academy Award nominee Ellen Page (Juno, Inception), who will be providing her voice talents in addition to being motion captured with impressive facial recognition technology that rivals that of Rockstar’s L.A. Noire.
