Arkham Origins had one of the greatest CGI trailers ever released a few months back, but even with the trailer being amazing, the gameplay itself still looks like more of the same of what we’ve already gotten before in previous Batman Arkham games — which isn’t really a bad thing (until they start doing it year after year).
It seemed like new developer WB Games Montreal was going to just play it safe with the original creators of the series, Rocksteady, not working on the game. And while the singleplayer will likely still end up being more of the same, WB Games (along with Splash Damage who did the multiplayer for Brink, Quake Wars, and Doom 3) will be introducing a brand new multiplayer feature that looks to help keep the series feeling fresh.
In the multiplayer reveal trailer, we get a first look at how the new competitive aspect will play out that looks a lot like the recent successful Gotham City Impostors game. The twist with Origins‘ multiplayer is that it will be 3 vs. 3 vs. 2 with the team of two being Batman and Robin. A very interesting concept that should be a lot of fun to play come this October for everyone except Wii U owners — if you needed yet another excuse that the latest Nintendo console is in trouble, the mode won’t be available on Wii U.
