The big announcement by Sony at this year’s Game Developers Conference was that not only has Zipper (creator of SOCOM and MAG) been hard at work on a new SOCOM, but that it will be one of the first games to utilize Sony’s new motion control setup that is being called PlayStation Move.
Move has potential and I’m glad that Sony is taking chances by having big titles use the new motion control scheme, but I’m still not impressed with the footage. While the game looks great and the motion controls look fun, the accuracy of aiming looks nowhere near as precise as using the good ol’ sticks. Fortunately, Zipper has announced that hardcore gamers can still use Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers. SOCOM: US Navy SEALs 4 is set for release this fall along with PlayStation Move. Check out footage of SOCOM 4 being played from GDC 2010 and the first official HQ screenshots below.
