It seems like every game nowadays has multiplayer; some work better than the singleplayer and keep players around for a couple extra months while others feel like cheap tacked-on afterthoughts that developers wasted their time on which could have better been spent improving a game’s singleplayer campaign. One developer this year made some rather bold changes to their award-winning franchise’s multiplayer and completely revamped many of its beloved features, a ballsy move that upset many but in the end created another great multiplayer experience.
Adding a revamped leveling system, more player and weapon customization, kill streak rewards, improved hand-to-hand combat, epic music, videos to watch in between games, and a whole plethora of other unique updates are what made Uncharted 3‘s multiplayer our favorite competitive game to play this year. Throw in early beta access to winner of next year’s Most Anticipated Multiplayer Game, Starhawk, included with each copy and it doesn’t get much better. Winner: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
