2K Games confirmed today that the sequel to Borderlands is in development by Gearbox Software and set for release between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013 on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Borderlands 2 is said to have new and more diverse environments, smarter and more powerful enemies, and an improved mission system capable of delivering a better story.
While the game still has a while before it hits store shelves, 2K Games and Gearbox Software will be giving fans and the media their first look at the game at Gamescom 2011 in two weeks. The latest issue of Game Informer magazine also has Borderlands 2 as the cover story and a 12-page feature on the game inside. You can check out the cover below, and stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information. More information can also be found on the newly launched official site for Borderlands 2.
