Sony has decided not to go through with its rewards program. Originally supposed to launch this month and reward PS3 users for purchasing PlayStation Network content and completing various other online activities, the PlayStation rewards program was also an attempt by Sony to compete with Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE, which is more popular and successful despite requiring a paid Gold subscription for full online access.
Although PSN is free, Sony recently rolled out a similar subscription service called PlayStation Plus. Microsoft introduced its own rewards program on Xbox LIVE late last year.
